July 4th

Remember that beautiful stadium in Geneva, packed with patriotic people cheering after an emotional performance? I’m sure we all do because it was a highlight of nearly every alumni’s tour. Share you memories of that day here with the group.

I remember on the 4th of July in 2001, there were people picketing and laying in the field while we were trying to play… and at the end of the evening, it started pouring rain and lightening struck the pile of fireworks.

1981- Geneva…first we played at the US Ambassador’s residence and then to the stadium with 50,000 people there. It was pretty cool.

The second tour I went on (’99) I hurt my knees and had difficulty walking, and Sue wouldn’t let me perform. I was able to sit in the stands and actually watch the performance. Not only did I get to hear the band, but I also heard the comments by the audience members and answer their questions (I was in uniform). Seeing it from that perspective was incredible, even though I was sad to not be able to perform.

Alicia, it wasn’t the same down there without you that day. We didn’t have the full MIB crew. :) I barely remember the performance. About the only thing I remember clearly was the fireworks show that evening. Beautiful!
